What does a typical day of treatment look like?

A: Each day starts at 7 AM, when NBH staff wakes residents up to get ready for the day ahead. Most residents then take their medication, care for hygiene, and have breakfast. The first group meets between 9 AM and 12 PM. Residents work together after group to prepare and clean up. The second group runs from 1:30-4.30 pm. The residents will work together again to prepare a meal after this group. Residents will be attending an NA group in the community on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Residents may also take part in chores or leisure activities on other nights.

What makes Northstar Behavioral Health different from other treatment programs?

A: NBH offers a supportive environment for recovery and fosters and supports recovery in the community. The facility of NBH is located in the North End St. Paul and is surrounded with other recovery-oriented facilities. NBH offers residents the opportunity to take part in activities that promote community integration, which is something that is often overlooked in residential and inpatient programs. NBH’s Rice Street facility focuses on treating and caring for males 18-plus who have met the criteria for opioid abuse disorder.

Is MAT available to everyone who comes through Northstar Behavioral Health care or do you tailor treatment based on each individual’s needs?

A: NBH’s approach to treatment is client-centered. It is individualized and tailored to each client’s needs. If you are approved by your doctor, our trained staff will talk with you about the options available to you regarding Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT).

What makes Northstar’s Opioid Treatment Program so unique?

NBH is different from the standard 28-day treatment. NBH programming is 90 days long and tailored to each client’s needs. northstar behavioral health staff are highly trained to address concerns regarding substance use disorders, particularly opioids, and mental health concerns.

What if I relapse after treatment? Can I reach out to Northstar for help?

A: Definitely. No matter your recovery status, we are here to make sure you get the care that you require.

What is the length of Northstar’s treatment Northstar Behavioral Health program?

A: 90 days. We found that any less than this is insufficient to address the root causes of long-term opioid and other substance abuse.
